Pests We Treat in Las Vegas & Henderson

Southern Nevada's desert climate creates the perfect environment for a wide range of pests. Here's what we deal with most — and how we treat them.

All Pests High Threat Moderate Nuisance
HIGH THREAT

Scorpions

The Arizona bark scorpion is the most dangerous scorpion in North America, and it's extremely common across the Las Vegas Valley. They enter homes through gaps under doors, around pipes, and through unsealed cracks in the foundation. They're nocturnal, hiding in shoes, closets, and bedding during the day.

Our treatment: We apply residual barrier sprays around the foundation, seal entry points, treat interior harborage areas, and use UV blacklight inspections to locate active scorpions at night. Recurring monthly service is recommended for desert-edge homes in Henderson, Summerlin, and the northwest valley.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: April – October
  • Where found: Block wall homes, desert lots, near washes
  • Danger: Painful sting, dangerous for children and pets
  • Prevention: Seal gaps, remove debris, monthly treatments
HIGH THREAT

Spiders

Black widow spiders are the primary concern for Las Vegas residents. They're found in garages, block walls, storage areas, and under outdoor furniture. Desert brown recluse spiders are less common but can cause serious tissue damage. Large wolf spiders are a frequent nuisance as well.

Our treatment: We de-web all accessible eaves, window frames, and patio structures. We apply residual treatments to harborage areas and reduce the insect prey that draws spiders to your property. Ongoing prevention keeps populations controlled.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: Spring through fall
  • Where found: Garages, block walls, eaves, sheds
  • Danger: Black widow bite requires medical attention
  • Prevention: De-web regularly, reduce outdoor lighting
HIGH THREAT

Rodents & Mice

Roof rats are the most common rodent pest in the Las Vegas Valley, nesting in attics, palm trees, and block walls. House mice squeeze through gaps as small as a dime. Both chew wiring (fire risk), contaminate food, and leave droppings that carry disease.

Our treatment: We perform a full exclusion inspection, identify entry points and recommend sealing with steel wool and sealant, place snap traps in active runways, and install tamper-resistant bait stations outdoors. For heavy activity, we include attic clean-out and insulation replacement referrals.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: Fall & winter (seeking warmth)
  • Where found: Attics, garages, block walls, palm trees
  • Danger: Wiring damage, disease, fire risk
  • Prevention: Seal openings, trim trees, remove fruit
HIGH THREAT

Bed Bugs

Las Vegas's tourism industry means bed bugs travel constantly between hotels and homes. They hitchhike on luggage, clothing, and furniture. Once established, they're extremely difficult to eliminate without professional treatment. They hide in mattress seams, headboards, baseboards, and electrical outlets.

Our treatment: Thorough inspection of all sleeping areas, crack-and-crevice treatment with residual products, mattress encasements, and follow-up inspection at 2 and 4 weeks to confirm elimination. We treat the entire room, not just the bed.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: Year-round
  • Where found: Mattresses, furniture, luggage, outlets
  • Danger: Itchy bites, sleep disruption, rapid spread
  • Prevention: Inspect luggage, encasements, vigilance
HIGH THREAT

Bees & Wasps

Africanized honeybees are established throughout Southern Nevada and are far more aggressive than European bees. Paper wasps build nests under eaves and patio covers. Both are dangerous for people with allergies and for pets. Established hives inside walls require professional removal.

Our treatment: We safely remove accessible nests and hives, treat harborage areas, and seal openings to prevent re-establishment. For hives inside walls or structures, we coordinate full extraction and repair.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: March – October
  • Where found: Eaves, walls, trees, irrigation boxes
  • Danger: Allergic reactions, aggressive swarms
  • Prevention: Seal wall gaps, remove water sources
MODERATE THREAT

Ants

Las Vegas homeowners deal with fire ants in yards, Argentine ants invading kitchens, odorous house ants trailing along baseboards, and harvester ants tearing up landscaping. Ant colonies can number in the hundreds of thousands, which is why over-the-counter sprays rarely solve the problem.

Our treatment: We identify the species first because each responds to different baits. We locate the colony, apply targeted bait that workers carry back to the queen, and create a chemical barrier around your home's foundation. Follow-up visits ensure the colony is fully eliminated.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: Year-round, worst in spring & after rain
  • Where found: Kitchens, bathrooms, foundations, yards
  • Danger: Fire ant stings; food contamination
  • Prevention: Seal food, fix moisture, barrier spray
MODERATE THREAT

Cockroaches

German cockroaches infest kitchens and bathrooms, breeding rapidly in warm, humid spaces. Oriental cockroaches (water bugs) are common around drains and irrigation. American cockroaches occasionally enter through sewer lines. All species spread bacteria and trigger allergies.

Our treatment: Gel bait in cracks and crevices, dust treatment behind appliances, drain treatment, and perimeter spray. Severe infestations may require a flush-out treatment followed by monitoring. We recommend bi-monthly service for roach-prone properties.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: Year-round indoors, summer outdoors
  • Where found: Kitchens, bathrooms, drains, garages
  • Danger: Disease transmission, allergen triggers
  • Prevention: Fix leaks, clean drains, seal food
MODERATE THREAT

Flies

House flies, drain flies, and fruit flies are common in Las Vegas homes and businesses. They breed in organic waste, drains, and trash areas. In commercial settings (especially restaurants), fly control is critical for health department compliance.

Our treatment: Source identification and elimination, drain bio-treatment, exterior bait stations, and recommendations for waste management. Commercial properties may benefit from fly light traps.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: Spring through fall
  • Where found: Kitchens, drains, trash areas, patios
  • Danger: Disease transmission, food contamination
  • Prevention: Cover trash, clean drains, screen doors
MODERATE THREAT

Pigeons

Pigeons are one of the biggest nuisance pests in the Las Vegas Valley. They roost on rooftops, solar panels, patio covers, and AC units. Their droppings are corrosive, carry disease, and create unsightly messes. HOAs frequently require pigeon abatement.

Our treatment: We install bird spikes, netting, and deterrent systems on roosting surfaces. Existing nests and droppings are cleaned and sanitized. We also provide solar panel screening to prevent nesting underneath panels.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: Year-round
  • Where found: Roofs, solar panels, patios, AC units
  • Danger: Droppings carry disease, damage surfaces
  • Prevention: Spikes, netting, remove food sources
NUISANCE

Crickets

Field crickets and house crickets swarm Las Vegas homes on warm evenings, drawn to outdoor lights. While not dangerous, they're loud and arrive in large numbers. They can damage fabrics and paper goods indoors. The annual cricket season is one of the most common service calls in the valley.

Our treatment: Exterior perimeter granular treatment, barrier spray around entry points, and recommendations for light management. Recurring prevention programs keep cricket numbers down throughout the season.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: Late spring through early fall
  • Where found: Exterior lights, garages, patios
  • Danger: Nuisance; minor fabric damage
  • Prevention: Switch to yellow lights, seal doors
NUISANCE

Earwigs

Earwigs congregate in moist, dark areas and often enter homes through gaps around doors and windows, especially during irrigation cycles. They're harmless but alarming to find in bathrooms and kitchens.

Our treatment: Perimeter barrier spray, moisture management recommendations, and entry point sealing. Regular exterior treatments keep earwig populations under control.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: Spring and summer
  • Where found: Mulch, irrigation areas, bathrooms
  • Danger: Harmless; pincers rarely used on people
  • Prevention: Fix drainage, pull mulch from foundation
NUISANCE

Beetles

Several beetle species are common in Southern Nevada, including ground beetles, carpet beetles, and elm leaf beetles. They enter homes through gaps and open doors, attracted to light at night. Carpet beetles can damage fabrics and stored goods.

Our treatment: Identification of the beetle species, perimeter barrier treatment, interior crack-and-crevice application, and recommendations for reducing attractants. Regular prevention keeps beetles from becoming a recurring problem.

Quick Facts
  • Peak season: Spring and summer
  • Where found: Near lights, carpets, closets, landscaping
  • Danger: Fabric damage (carpet beetles); mostly nuisance
  • Prevention: Seal entries, reduce outdoor lighting, clean stored items
